Hey guys I think we should put together a fansite for Otakon. We could compile all the pics and stuff we've accumulated so far and pics from this year, as well as info for those less fortunate than us that can't go. Make it sort of an "insider view" thing.

Plus, we could get promoted on Otakon's website. Then, we could use this further for our little anime store idea, Brett.

Speaking of that, we should really go through with it. I think it'd rock. The anime store idea, that is.

*Shrug* just throwing out an idea.

45 days.

Okay, I've got a different suggestion instead of the mandatory buddy system.

Basically, here's my idea: While we're at the convention, do whatever the fuck you want. Hump the walls. Hump other people that want to be humped. Hump the ground, I don't care--go off on your own or with whoever's going to see the same thing. It's your business--when you leave the Convention Center to go back to the hotel or to grab something to eat--find someone to go with you. The Con itself is pretty safe, but Baltimore is another story. It's a big, big city and a lot can happen if you're by yourself.

Like I told Anuj: I'm not trying to be anybody's parents or anything, I'd just rather deal with "What Ifs" than "Oh, Shits," you know? I want everyone going to have fun and make this year better than the rest, so if we can adhere to some kind of system where we'll all stay safe AND have a good time, it'll turn out wonderfully.

Don't like the idea? Suggest something else. Cell phones will be fairly unreliable in the center, just to let you know; the amount of noise and signal strength make them kind of a liability to pin our communication on.

I know you guys don't like rules, but we're gonna be almost 500 miles away from home, and if we get some guidelines sorted out, it'll be a safe, fun time for everyone going.

Money talks. [Jun. 17th, 2005|04:47 pm]

Here's our money situation:

The total hotel costs are $1453.50. That's for two rooms, the same type we had last year, which have two double beds, a kitchenette, a huge closet, and a large bathroom. They'll be next to each other.

Divide this cost between 12 people and it comes down to $121.25 per person for the hotel. Not to shabby, huh?

Now, add to this (I'm guestimating, here) about $10 per person for gas, and maybe $5 per person for food shopping, provisions for the fridges, etc, and the absolute, total cost per person is going to run us $136.25.

We'll collect everyone's share before we leave, and Matt's gonna hold onto it until he and I go in to get us checked into the hotel.

As far as the buddy system goes anymore: fuck it. I'm not gonna argue about it anymore. But I do think we'll need a meeting place and everyone meet there at like...2PM every day to see what's going on once a day or something. That sounds more feasible.

Any questions, comments, etc, go ahead. I don't think that's much worse than what I'd been expecting, though.

This year is gonna kick some major ass. MAJOR ass.

Gotta run to work. Just putting something here as a placeholder until I have time for a REAL update.

What does everyone plan on buying? Out of curiousity.

I seriously cannot wait until this year.

Welcome to the chronicles of the Otakon 2005 trip, for the group from Mansfield Ohio!

Okay guys, right now this is the list I have:

As far as I've been told, Pat's just riding out with us, and not staying in the hotel. That's 12 people, we're gonna NEED three cars. I'll be driving lead again, if nobody has any objections.

New ideas I propose this year:
Mandatory buddy system
Walkie Talkies for the cars (Somebody check into these for me, range, price, etc.)
Food shopping the day before
Leaving at night instead of the next morning, somewhere around 9-10PM

As you all know, we're staying at the Tremont Plaza hotel on St. Paul Street again, which is ritzy, but since we've got 11 people staying there, splitting the cost makes it a lot cheaper. As soon as I get the final numbers, I'll break it down to the per person costs. Shouldn't run anymore than $150 for each of us, if that. Everyone chips in for gas and some food, too, like if we want pizza one night.

More details to come as I get more time to post them.
